SCCA Vote

Postby WD40 » Fri Oct 28, 2005 1:00 pm

Well folks, when you get your ballots, PLEASE vote!
This is a very important issue, and thusly will require a quorum of the members to vote.
In other words, over half the members need to send ballots back.
If you feel strongly one way or the other, and would like to see a change, or not,
it's really not all that much effort to check a box, and mail the ballot back.

===============================

At last night's meeting, the topic of "Fun" came up.
Meaning, we all race for fun, why be concerned with rules?

Well, here's my take on that:
I feel that competition, and the betterment of our driving skills is why we're all out there in the first place.
More than likely for the vast majority of participants, the competition is the FUN part, and classes make the competition closer.
Unfortunately, "fake" classing systems do not.
When and if a classing system is used, that pits cars of such disparity in the same class against each other,
it takes all the FUN out of the competition portion of the event.
I feel there's only 1/2 the fun available so to speak when that's the case.

Thanks for your time.

As of today Wed 9th Nov we have a total of 36 votes cast. Some of you wont believe this, in fact I had to recount them twice myself- but the votes are 18 to 18 in regards to the rule change. Personally I'd prefer a landslide one way or the other, there are still two more days. I hope what ever the outcome we can be civil after its been decided. :?

Well I'm surprised you didn't ask sooner, sorry Ive been working late this week every night and haven't switched on the computer until today. But the results are in, yes we did get enough votes to make this count, and its was close at first. Total votes returned 53, on the issue of paying points we had 39 yes votes to stop paying the top 15 places, 1 maybe, and 13 no votes. Thus after 2005 we will suspend paying the individual and use the funds for other expenses. On the subject of the classing system used for 2006 we had 32 votes in-favor of adopting the solo rule book classing and 21 votes to keep what we've used in the past. That's settled then. Hope to get a hard copy out this week with the points and year end party details, also next years schedule.

Classing

Postby Mr Blue » Wed Nov 23, 2005 8:22 pm

I have only been in SCCA for a year and found the classing unique around the state. It always changed where ever i went. I agree with people to some extent about being in classes with similar cars except that if we break it down like the total SCCA classes we will only be racing against ourselves, we dont have the volume of cars that the big cities have. I have raced in Missoula with SCCA rules and there was and is only one other car in my class, i went to Kalispell and was classed according to my engine size and if i had race tires. I like to compete and win like anyone else except i would rather race against some and lose than to race against myself and win. I just like racing, it dont matter what class i run in, i will try to out race everyone regardless of class. Its not the car that makes U fast its how well U handle the car U drive. Looking forward to next year. Blue :)

OK I didn't get that panic slip out this week, but I have one page written :D
Mr Blue dude You make a good point and that was why we have backed away from this before, what we can do is bump cars up a class, and so we shall. One car classing blows
MR. 40 I have not received the points yet so I can't tell you, however I do know that I didn't get first place position (or 2nd, or 3rd, or 4th) in case that helps. The year-end party is on Jan 27 2006 at the 3-D, more details soon.

^^^ I was asking how the points add up ^^^
I. E., How many points for a 1st place finish, 2nd, 3rd, so on and so on?

As near as I can tell by my little Excel table, it's a 3 way tie for 2nd place.
I just need to break it down further by how many points you get for each position at each race.
